Military Bases, Peer support teams, Organizations, & Universities
Serving Active Service Members - as well as their family members - is a part of what makes Operation Equine unique. We have been fortunate to serve the 764th EOD from Ft. Carson Army Base for their Defender Days as well as host them for volunteer days; to facilitate families from the EFMP (Exceptional Family Member Program) from Buckley Space Force Base; and to work with the CYB/Youth Program, also from Buckley Space Force Base.
Operation Equine is also honored to collaborate with the DU Graduate School of Professional Psychology’s Sturm Center for Military Psychology by hosting two doctoral student interns in the 2018-19 school year, one graduate school intern through the Forensic Psychology program in 2021, and the International School of Disaster Psychology in 2022-23. Through this connection, not only were we able to expand the efficacy of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning to up-and-coming mental health care professionals, but we were also able to extend this powerful work to the military and veteran clients and families that they are already working with.
We have also been privileged to serve the Chaplaincy Team from Buckley Space Force Base: a huge honor to provide a day of respite for these professionals who daily dedicate their hearts and spirits to the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of the Army National Guard service members and their families. We felt honored to provide a space for them to learn how Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning could actually work to complement the services that they are already providing to their military families.
Serving the Denver Police Department Peer Support Team has also a special honor! These are the men and women who not only serve their communities with grit and grace and compassion and honor, but who are also the leaders and generous men and women who train to act as peer mentors in their units: providing words of wisdom, resources, camaraderie, and comfort to their fellow law enforcement officers in their times of need.
